The Hardest Lessons

Well I've always been a malcontent Never real good at taking compliments With one foot in my mouth I apologize And I'll never forget my last drink Elevator going up but I was sinking From the 25th floor all I wanted to do was fly Well I've never been happier than walking away I'll get to where I'm going someday And If I don't at least I'll keep you guessing Ya I've never been better than being alone Every mistake I make is my own Cuz some people only learn the hardest lessons Y'know I got 3 boys and a minivan Some days I forget who I am And when I'm lost I lead myself astray 25 years out on the road Lost a few good friends and some I didn't know And here I am dancing on their graves Well think about baby what you really want Has it ever been good enough?
