Something follows you back from the other side from the locked up basement at the house of blue light Close your eyes and you’ll fall right through the floor there are things in this world you can feel all your life but you’re taught to ignore all the strength that waits at your side on the wings that heave and they sigh painted in the corner of your eye where once there were halls and gardens where captains’ wives would bathe and tattoo the names of sailors lost to the waves but nobody lives there anymore in the castle in the clouds nobody lives there anymore in the castle in the clouds they’ll leave you pounding on the door. to pry open the heart that’s rusted shut mend the lines of talk where the’ve all been cut makes a man wanna cry when he’s turned away you’re just a guest in this world––it’ll have you for a while but you don’t get to stay just as you’re turning to go from the cliffs that tower below send you off and let you fall so slow and all your memories leave you alone in the hands of thieves and con men that carry you off in the smiling breeze up to the chambers in the spire of the castle in the clouds up with the sweetness of desire in the castle in the clouds when you get too cold and tired drift to sleep and when you wake, all the bad dreams have flown away let the stars be your guide they’re passing over one at a time see them all open wide and when you look to see what’s inside … oh no … it’s true … I can’t believe … oh no … it’s you haven’t I seen you before?
