Monument

I've built you up and it's tore me down Got me chasing boats and running around I'm sat in the corner of this circle house Impossible numbers are spinning round And the plans were told and the stones were rolled And I'm always ready when it's time to go I still get a shock when I'm down below Looking up at what you've become There's a million ways to describe your face And all of them are good I could count the times you've inspired my lines But I don't think that I should You're like a cathedral A monument in my mind A tower in the ocean For miles and miles I can see your light The further away the bigger you get I can't make sense my perspective's wrecked The directionless miles that I have trekked Always lead me back it's a sure fire bet Ziggurats and bridges and buildings in the clouds Can only remind me of you But you exist on a celestial scale, you pull me down like the Moon There's a million ways to describe your face And all of them are good I could count the times you've inspired my lines But I don't think that I should You're like a cathedral A monument in my mind A tower in the ocean For miles and miles I can see your light --- Monument - Crayon Jones
