Down in the streets a plot's been set aside This hole we occupy ain't fit for a dream Seemed better scrapin' by in the land of cream and honies, right On your own left to survive in a cold den of thieves Seems I recall a land stretching to the sky From mountain peaks the sun would rise to enlighten the plain Seems I recall a land offered enough for all And it took our greed to feed the fall of a child untamed Take what you need and run Chase the life that once was found following the setting sun Stifled the screaming as they held us back, blacked our eyes They took control, left her defiled and drained Slid us the steel and as we slowly slide the knife inside They whisper, "Ain't this what you want, ain't you entertained?" Time after time we rush to greet the unknown blind Resting assured the other side will be all we could dream When, time after time, we find all that's been left behind Was never worth the sacrifice, we had all we could need Take what you need and run Chase the life that once was found following the setting sun All of life, this is fleeting Oh how I wish it'd stay But my time's always bleeding And pulling away from me Am I lost for dreaming 'bout a turning page, a rising tide It's all too far gone to think it ever could change When ignorance comes easy, standing guard over prosthetic minds While my thoughts may differ, all around me remains Who'll draw the line?
